SXSW: Tips for the locals
Its that time again! SXSW: when people from all over the world fill in the gaps in our already crowded streets. If you live in Austin, you know what its like to dodge slow moving out-of-towners at Whole Foods every time an event decides to call Austin its home.
This year, we’re expecting for even more congestion, not just because the state basketball tournament is happening at the same time the film and interactive events are occurring, but because the legislature is in session and lobbyists are wandering about with interns, representatives, and whoever else needs to work overtime to fully utilize the short time span allotted for lawmaking that occurs every couple years.
Here are some quick tips for the locals that want to partake in the festivities:
- park and walk or ride a bike if you plan on coming close to downtown
- when cycling by cars, keep enough space for a door to open, even if you’re passing on the passenger side
- bring water if you can
- be kind and helpful, this is texas, people, and you never know who you’ll meet
- have fun and try to go to the FREE shows!
